SOLID 2024 Interplay Between People and Data Generation

Between BLC and SOLID last week, idea generation on high.

At SOLID the theme was the interplay between people and data generation in the workplace and how data becomes ideas becomes knowledge and, hopefully wisdom.

As Ilona Longvinova, McKinsey’s Head of Legal Innovation noted, “Legal innovation is a human-centered approach to reimagining our profession.”

We’re beginning to see a path where data leads beyond risk mitigation to forecasting company strategic direction. We need to be able to reimagine our roles, and renew our commitment to entrepreneurship, agility and radical curiosity.  In the words of Gen. McChrystal (Team of Teams) “Adaptability trumps efficiency.”

What resonates with me most of all, however, is the Michael Jordan quote David shared, “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost more than 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”  Led me to watch Denzel Washington’s Fall Forward. He says, “To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.”

Let’s go out there and do something new (or something new to you) that makes our team, company, profession, industry better. And let’s do it together. – very thankful for the supportive and welcoming community of legal operations professionals.
